Most people come to Amalfi Coast through Naples then you can take the train or drive for around 1.5 hours to Positano. Transportation is well developed on the island to connect one town and another such as bus or train but you can also rent a car. Public transportation is a good option if you aim for a vacation on a budget. However, if you do not want to depend on a fixed schedule, you can also rent a car.

Driving along the coast with the car may take less than 2 hours but the views are incredible. The driving route in the Amalfi Coast is said to be one of the most beautiful routes in Europe. When you decide to self-drive in the Amalfi Coast, it is important to remember that there are lots of zigzags and windy roads. Plus, parking can be quite difficult and expensive in some towns. There are four main towns in Amalfi Coast which are Sorrento, Positano, Ravello, and Amalfi. Amalfi is the biggest town in the area and the most popular destination for those who are looking for history and medieval architecture.
